Middle Name/Nicknames/being a Hero
I bet you a dollar that right when you read the title in your mind was MIDDLE NAME WAT!

1 Corinthians: 11:1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ

Everyone is unique and has their own special middle name given by our parents. Or a nickname given by our closest friends. Each middle name, nickname, or any name in general has a special meaning. You can have as many nicknames as you want for example I have 3. Which are CTat, Tatty, Chris. Each one is special to me because Toby gave me CTat Tatty from Kenny and Chris from my real name. So right now I also bet why you are wondering why I am talking about names all of the sudden.

Well looks look at Jesus He had the coolest nickname of all Saviors! I mean come on who doesn’t want to be a hero and be a savior! Well guess what every single of us is a hero. In our Christian lives we have a standard to live up to show others how amazing God is in our lives. To show others that just because we are Christian it doesn’t make us any different. The only thing different about us is that we are SAVED. We are trying to show the world being a Christian is not a bad thing and we want others saved to. Remember in the previous devo that just because we are saved doesn’t mean we can sin all we want.

Proverbs 29:23
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

We can be that hero but showing others to Christ but don’t let that become your pride. For example “Oh I been going to church longer and I am a better Christian” You accepted Christ 1 minute ago or you accepted Christ 2 years ago doesn’t matter one of you might be more mature but the point is both of you are in Christ now.

Mark 12:31
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
So I bet now your wondering “wait how am I a hero I am so small and I cannot do anything!” Being that guy inviting that person who sits by themselves during lunch to a church event is being a hero. You might not see it but look you are hero because maybe soon that person might be come a Christian you just saved a life from going to hell! Being a hero doesn’t need you to do something so big! Living a Christian life everyday affecting others around you means you are a hero…showing others how great God is. Maybe will change their minds telling them “wow I should start coming to church!”

Feeling good about yourselves now good but I bet in your mind your still wondering wait, wait, wait, wait what in the world does this have to do with middle name and nicknames!
Being a hero and all I should have a 2nd name. Well look at my best friend for example Allison Poon (she don’t got a middle name) but look if I were to give her a special unique nickname or middle name it would be : Passionate for God. She really shows Jesus in her having all that passion for our Savior helping others and leading others in worship. Or my other best friend Matthew Yuen. He always felt bad about himself but to me he has my hero because he helped me go through the bad times and help me grow as a Christian. He has a fire burning passion to lead others in worship when PLUGS lead worship or anyone he is sitting or standing next to in service he doesn’t care how he sounds he sings to God.

Romans 8:29
For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Remember that we Christian have a standard and that is to be Christ Like! That is almost impossible because we sin almost everyday! But remember nothing is impossible with God. Look at Paul he persecuted Christian but he changed and he now follows the example of Christ and we should follow the footsteps of Paul and be Christ Like! So are you ashamed to bow your head during lunch in front of your friend to give thanks for the food. Or ashamed to lift your hand in worship. Now remember being a hero means you have to set an example. So don’t be ashamed I know it will take a lot of courage but all of us can do it!


So as you read this devotion tomorrow are you going to change and pray for the food, be a hero, don’t be ashamed, and let others give you the nickname of that guy/girl over there I can really see Jesus in them.
