Heart of Worship 9-28-08

Ok i know theres no devo for the 27? because i think all the dates are messed up because ally and me both started on differnt day so i had to move everything back 1 day so we lost 1 day of devos. Starting 9-30-08 everything should be back to normal.

before i start i just want to say inspirition came from God and Theo for this devo

Heart of Worship
I am coming back to the heart of worship….. This phrase in the song Heart of Worship means so much…..

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before Him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
1 Chronicles 16:29

So today we had worship practice and while everyone was talking my mind is just in its own place. All my friends were talking about how to do the song and I was like uh huh yea sure yep. Then when we did the song boy I threw everyone off. I felt so bad. If I did that at the real worship set it would have stopped worship. But like my friend said God doesn’t care as long as your heart is in there!
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints. Ephesians 1:18
So why am I talking about that but at the same time heart of worship. Well let’s use Chris favorite analogies stories wohoo! Ha-ha anyway…. So in worship on Sunday or our youth group worship sets. We sing words over and over again but are you really making that worship. Also making it your prayer. Like Stir in Me it says Stir in me a passion that my heart can not contain. Are you really praying that or you just singing it because everyone else is? Just like how all my friends are talking I am saying yea yea yea. In worship you’re just singing but your heart and mind are somewhere else. Then ask God to open the eyes of your heart.

Just like my last devo this also talks about your relation ship with Christ. How’s that been? Worship is one of the things that brings you closer to Him.

I can admit sometimes I just say the words to the song and not really worshiping. But somehow God tells me “hey man look what you are doing” Then I stop singing and just kneel my head and pray and once my heart feels it’s there I start worshiping again. Or some other ways are walking around and praying. Doesn’t matter which method you use you might have your own. As long as you can use it and come back to God and worship.

So next week I pray that ALL of us can worship with our hearts and just not do it.
