Temptation Part 3: Lying 10-07-08

You are a toll collector. It's $6 to park in your parking lot. Life is good. Your boss loves you, business is good, and you get extra money on your own. WAIT...? Get extra money? Yep, for every $6 you collect, you pocket $2. That means you steal $100 for every 50 cars that come to pay. One day you just might get caught lying and you would have to pay back all the money you stole.

Ananias and Sapphira did the exact same thing. They had just sold a piece of land. They wanted to present the money to the church. Before they presented the money though, they lied and took some of the money for themselves. Lying to the church is the same thing as lying to God, so God punished them. Ananias and Sapphira both died.

People are caught lying all the time. These days, people lie about their business, their family, their friends, etc. In Ephesians 6:16, Paul writes, "In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." As Christians, we must take up the shield of faith so we can protect ourselves from these temptations.
